Sigma Theory is a turn by turn strategy game, released by Mi Clos Studio in 2019, simulating a futuristic cold war. The player incarnates a counterspy division leader, whose objective is to discover the "Sigma Theory", a technology that could give his possessor control of the world. To reach the Sigma Theory technology, the player has at his disposal a scientific team that will discover various technologies and an agent team that can be sent to other countries to convert or capture scientists.

 

After the release, the development team added a workshop feature to the game, allowing players to create and play with their own agents. I've been playing the game since it was still in Beta, and when they released that feature, I decided to make my own agents based on the Rainbow Six Siege game.

 

I had two main intentions: First to respect the original story of each Rainbow Six Siege agent, as Sigma theory agents are shaped by their story, and lastly, since Rainbow six agents can be part of the same organizations, I wanted to create teams of agents, that could compete with any others, without being overpowered or weaker, while offering a challenge to any player.

 

The design went into 3 steps:

 

  • First, the Background story: I checked each background story of rainbow six agents (official and fan Wikipedia) to have a good overview of the character's thinking and emotions. This helped me to create their biography, name, native country, recons, and arrest warrants.

  • Then, I started to create their agent profile: Since agents must be designed to be a full team, I couldn't make similar agents. Each one of them needed to have their strengths and weaknesses but still based on their profile I did in the first step. So I added their main statistics and a couple of traits.

  • Finally, I did some changes and balancing: I added traits that didn't had an impact on their main story while boosting them, suppressing traits, and adjusting stats to ensure the agent team was balanced.

 

That's how it leads to three different teams based on the Rainbow Six Siege game.

I also made a single agent, Caveira, since there is not enough agents from the BOPE in the rainbow six siege, but I still wanted to make a solo agent on a popular agent.
